Hi, my name is Francesca, wife, mum to 2 almost grown up kids and a (naughty) fur baby….oh and I’m addicted to crafting!

I think I was born with an itch in my fingers to create things.

I live in South Wales, UK, but I was born in Italy where I spent most of my childhood. You could say that creativity was in my blood, my mom was an extremely creative lady, there wasn’t much she couldn’t make with some knitting needles and some wool, and I won’t even mention how amazing her cooking was!

So, what has prompted me to start this blog……

When I was 14, we moved to Wales, and it was around that time that I started to experience health issues. I had to battle for almost 20 years to be taken seriously by the medical profession (who basically told me it was all in my head!) until I was eventually diagnosed with endometriosis in 2012. During this time, I also developed IBS, which means I have had to drastically change my diet as there are so many foods that make me poorly. All this has had a massive effect on my mental health and as a result I have developed debilitating anxiety which affects my day-to-day life.

The one thing that has kept me sane through it all has been keeping my hands and brain busy through crafting. And not only that, when I had to give my job up because of my health, crafting came to the rescue as I started my own cake making business, which to this day is still going strong.

Arts and crafts have always been the one constant in my life, the one thing that regardless of what was happening, I could depend on to take my mind off real life and make me feel like I had accomplished something. I guess it is like my therapy and a great way to practice mindfulness. When I’m creating something, the whole world disappears for a while and I just live in that moment. And there is no chance to get bored, not when there are so many crafts to choose from! From baking, to cooking, to sewing, crafting to upcycling to growing your own veg!

I also have a very keen interest in mental health and I am currently studying towards a BSc Hon in Psychology.

But don’t just take it from me. There has been intensive research to suggests that crafting is much more than just an outlet for personal expression or a way to pass the time. Crafting is renowned to help reduce anxiety, increase happiness and improve your mood in general, all of which can help fight depression.

I hope you will come on this creative journey with me and most importantly I hope it will inspire you to join me and try it too!

I love hearing from you and am always happy to help if I can! If you have any requests or just want to ask me a random question, get in touch!
